Hi All, To all of you who are blind and live alone, or even just live somewhere where you're not with someone who is a caregiver type person, what do you do if you realize there's a bug infestation, or jsut a spider somewhere in the room? How do you find it and kill it? Caitlin

......Caitlin, I like Spiders..... did you say kill spiders...... :(

Lol spiders ... and other bugs ... that are bad, not nice ones. Like ones that are poisonous. Or if you have someone who is scared of it and wants you to take it outside. Not kill it necessarily. How do you do that?

I know there is a spider in the room as she belongs to my brother the others are just visiting and are most welcome.

let see, I haven't had that happen to me really, so I don't do too much about it. If there is anything in my room, I friggen freak out and get mom or dad to kill it. I hate bugs, they're grose!

I hate creepy crawly things!

I hate, and am afraid of anything that stings. Sometimes wasps would get in the window of my room while mom was at work, and I'd just sit in a corner and shiver till mom came home, then I'd tell her, and she'd kill it. I've never heard of any blind person successfully killing bugs, especially wasps or bees, and flies, they fly, and they're too fast. Even if I had a fly swatter, and could hear the direction they were in, I'd be terrified of trying to hit them, because I'd be bound to miss, and then I'd get stung for sure.

must get myself an electric bug zapper. lol, yet another item to add to my Christmas list for next year lol JK, has anyone who is blind, ever used one of those?

Post 9 by Reyami (I've broken five thousand! any more awards going?) on Sunday, 05-Aug-2007 10:14:30

On second thought, a bug zapper wouldn't be that effedctive. How do you kill a fly if you can't see it?

Post 10 by HauntedReverie (doing the bad mango) on Sunday, 05-Aug-2007 11:58:13

not very helpful answers guys.
lol, I want a bug zapper thing for my house. also, andy and I reccon that we'll become good friends with our neighbors, as we're both afraid of bees. we'll just go, "hi, could you come get this for us?"
that's about all I can think of.

Fly spray is your friend. Certainly is mine..... Also electric bug killers are great fun too. Give me this warm fuzzy feeling every time I hear something die in it. Sick? Me? lol

you can get these electrical bug catchers. They give off some kind of sound or sent and the bugs are atracted to it, and when they go inside, their given a little electric shock, and killed. I plan to get one as soon as I move out.
Or, just befriend your neighbours, like Cala has said above. lol

I eat the bugs lol.

The only problem with bug zappers, is I've heard they're not effective against mosquitoes.

Post 15 by sugar (Entertain me. I dare you.) on Monday, 06-Aug-2007 10:40:12

Well, either they are affective against mosquitoes, or I just dont' get many of them in. If you really get as freaked out by them as I do, there's no rule saying that you have to have only one method of getting rid of them..... You can get repelants for your windows, fly screens, bug eating plants.... On the list goes...

Bug-eating plants sound interesting enough. I'd just stick with those. lol

Post 17 by TheAsianInvasion (The Zone's invader) on Saturday, 25-Aug-2007 0:38:50

yeah, they help sometimes, well I usually get ants in the house, sometimes there will be a spider or two but that's it

No solution to this. I just hide under the covers until the buzzer goes away. LOL Why do they always seem to come around when you're trying to sleep? There's nothing that chases away a much-needed plunge into dreamland like that high-pitched whirring sound near your ear!

Post 19 by bea (I just keep on posting!) on Thursday, 06-Sep-2007 14:39:43

a bee got in here once and i thought it was a fly. Kept spraying at it until it died and found out later it was a bee. Wonder I didn't get stung. Bugs are gross.

Post 20 by moyzey (i'm posting? huh?) on Thursday, 06-Sep-2007 15:57:54

the only difficulty with bug eating plants, is that they are tropical plants, and are very difficult to look after. I should know, I tried it once. lol

I don't understand why are all you people afrade, of an animal that is big time much smaller then yous.

Post 22 by moyzey (i'm posting? huh?) on Thursday, 06-Sep-2007 16:29:21

It's not their size that's the problem. They fly, they buzz, they sting, they're generally annoying, and I hate them.

Hmmm!
